Genio CLG

Genio is an Irish registered company limited by guarantee, established in March 2008 (CLG Reg no. 454839). It is governed by the Genio Board of Directors, who give their time on a voluntary basis, and operates as a non-profit organisation. Board Directors are normally elected for three-year terms and meet at least four times a year. The Board is supported by a board committee structure including the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. The Board is chaired by Shay Garvey who is a founding partner of Frontline Ventures and one of the most active and experienced early-stage technology investors in Europe.

Genio Trust

The Genio Trust was established in 2010 to receive and disburse innovation funds to support the reform of services in a personalised, cost-effective direction. The Genio Trust is a registered charity (RCN 20075606, CHY 19312) which is governed by the Board of the Genio Trust. The Trustees are appointed by the Board of Directors of Genio CLG and also give their time on a voluntary basis. Their role is to make final decisions regarding receiving and disbursing funds through the Trust against criteria agreed with our partners, ensuring these decisions are in line with the overall mission of Genio. The Board of the Genio Trust is chaired by Prof. Brian MacCraith, former President of Dublin City Unviversity and Senior Advisor to the President, Arizona State University (ASU) on European Initiatives.

Genio Executive

Authority is delegated on a day-to-day basis to the Executive Management team and Chief Executive Officer of the company. The Genio team is led by Chief Executive Officer Dr. John Healy, who prior to joining Genio, worked as the international Director of Strategic Learning and Evaluation of the Atlantic Philanthropies, an international grant-making foundation where he worked from 1998 to 2012. He led the foundation’s evaluation, organisational and strategy development work across a range of systems reform initiatives accros a number of countries. 

Codes and standards of practice

Genio subscribes to the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Charities Regulator Ireland; the non-mandatory Charities SORP Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice; and is fully compliant with the Charities Governance Code.

In addition, the Genio CLG Board of Directors and the Genio Trustees have developed and committed to their own ethical fundraising policy; code of conduct; conflict of interest and loyalty policy; and anti-fraud policy.
